product testing was held today. we met up to try on the fruit pizza we are gonnna distribute to the class on the day of presentation. good try desmond! cookie was fantastic and it looks so appetizing! hopefully everyone will love it as well. sorry no pics though. we were too hungry to even think that a camera would do some justice to a pretty pizza like that. whoop whoppp~!!
we went to ikea after school to get the frames and the other 'props'. man, it is a lot of hard work. which explains why this isnt any marketing mod. it is entrepreneurial mod where ur creative juices NEED to come to play, where u need initiative and where u are willing to the risk. our tees for the presentation will be ready for collection in a few days' time, so is the printing of the brochures, info bites, feedback form, menus and wad nots. we are bussssyyyy, soooo sooo busy. will update on our final presentation. so stay tune! :)

we have been busy with the upcoming major presentation. we finally decided on our menu items, one of which includes our specialty dish, fruit pizza. one can even customize it to suit the occassions. not only do we churn out creativity from the customer's side, we hope to make it one of our unique food item since u rarely find fruit pizzas in the cafes or restaurants today. also, we offer a healthier choice by offering strudel, crepes, fondues etc etc which incorporate fresh fruits in them.
the problem is to find an appropriate way to present our cafe to our audience. it is difficult task i tell u, we have to get ready so many 'props' people might think we are staging some play which is gonna last for 2 hrs. le sigh. tired tired, but excited for the final presentation. wheeee~

the presentation went pretty alright, except for a blunders here and there and that we had a garden of butterflies in our stomach before our presentation. nevertheless, we received great feedback from our fellow classmates and we were grateful for that. prof was also unsure about our market segmentation but we were very thankful that our concept made it through! we just have to polish up on our market segmentation. it was such a relief that our presentation is over and done with, our final lap is to gather as much info as we can for our concept, push it further for our final presentation and convince everyone else that our idea is feasible through our presentation and report. and people start having fantastic ideas after the project presentation....
after analyzing it, it is more troublesome if we were to work on so many dishes at the same time. afterall, we are a small start up joint and there's a need to focus on a handful of dishes that will make us popular enough among our target market, unique enough for them to patronise our joint. after much discussion, we have decided to incorporate only fresh fruits for our fastfruit. something related to our brand and slogan and definitely much easier to attract our target market. our aim is to provide good quality fresh fruits in the form of creative, attractive designed food items to cater to the increasingly health conscious society. afterall, most teenagers and young professionals would prefer to chill out at a place where there are many healthier choices to choose from. fruits have always been popular among the locals and unfortunately and fortunately for us, only in canteens can u find such stalls selling fruits and fruit juices and these stalls are often making lots of profit because of the high demand. so we fill that there's a niche to go into this market by providing high end dishes incorporating fresh fruits and providing customer excellence. wonderful aye? :)

We had our last meeting before our very first presentation which will be held on Tuesday. There were so many things to do as we had so many gaps to fill up to prevent any doubts on that day itself. We managed to survey more young professionals around Raffles Place area and they were willing to provide more insights as to what defines a wholesome and healthy meal for them. fortunately, the survey results were to our favour and we were more confident about our idea generation this time around thanks to these positive results. Also also, we decided to create a catchy ad for the audience this tuesday so that they will always remember our brand. Other than the attempt to create an impact on the audience and the prof, we hope to get our idea across; the idea of substituting rice with fruits and vegetables for the healthier choice.

we are dead tired after 3 days of business. running a food business isnt easy. it has its risks (A whole lot!) but we did enjoy ourselves. nevertheless, we learnt several lessons from this pilot test and hopefully, we can improve more and with this experience, it will enable us to better envision the feasibility of this concept and the possible marketing strategies that managed to draw the crowd within the 3 days. we are beat! so CIAO! credits to Charlene for the pics.

Hello everyone! pardon up for the lack of updates since we have been so caught up with the menus, nutritional values of each fruit and veggie and whatnots. i didnt know setting up a cafe could be this challenging, every nitty gritty matters, it is as if we ARE really gonna set up one this time round. so today, we met up to taste the products that we are gonna promote during the pilot test, come up with our designations in the mini company and catchy phrases for our tees.
After tasting those products, we decided that mango pudding with 'nata de coco' fillings and mashed potato with parsley are reasonably good menu items and that we will try yoghurts, sorbets, fruit salad, pudding, frozen fruits and milkshakes on the following meeting. Each one of us are assigned to at least one of those aforementioned so that we can taste a variety of products for our pilot test.
As for the pilot test itself, desmond will have to check whether it is feasible for us to rent a fridge. Currently, our biggest problem lies in the rental of the fridge. On top of which, we have to consider mode of transport to school. Oh yes, Khairiah managed to find a friend who will be organising a bazaar at Science faculty on 17-19 september and the rent is $50 for 3 days. woohooo! :D Also, we manage to finalize the products that we will be promoting during the pilot test!
These are the products that will be launched during pilot test:
1) Strawberry, mango and almond puddings 2) Strawberry, mango and peach yogurt 3) Sorbet (Lime, Mango, Starwberry) 4) Banana, strawberry and mango milkshakes 5) Mashed potato 6) Fruit salad 7) frozen fruit with yoghurt
Other than that, we have decided that there are 2 different types of set meals (for our cafe, not the pilot test): fruit set meal and vegetable set meal ( which will be priced lower since veggies are relatively cheaper!) and just like any other cafe, there will be one promotion meal per day and finally on the day of our presentation, we will dish out these 2 different types of set meals for each group. this is to promote and convince to them that this concept will work. having said all this, i guess one can tell that we are spending quite a lot for this project as a whole. boohoo.

Entrepreneurial marketing isnt just abt marketing any form of product or service found in the today's market. the word 'entrepreneurial' pushed the entire project to 5 notches tougher. we started out by having crazy ideas from importing and exporting products to developing countries to promoting organic food to some handphone accessory that flashes whenever there is an incoming call or message. though these ideas may sound dull and seemingly difficult to promote them on a large scale, we really had no outofthisworld ideas, something which we can assimilate and associate ourselves with at the same time. Not long after, Weihan came up with this 'fastfruit' concept, and since we are nice and he was adamant and convincing abt the entire concept, we decided to give it a try. Afterall, we had no time to procrastinate and brainstorm abt the other ideas.
i should say it's not too bad an idea. afterall, our society are becoming more health-conscious, now that everyone is crazy with brawns or a slim figure for the ladies. why fastfruit? the word 'fast' is used to attract working professionals who are always on the go, those who can't afford the time to wait for the food. fastfruit allows one to purchase a healthy set of meal consisting of a main dish, 2 side dishes and a drink. the challenge for us definitely lies in the mindset these Singaporeans have towards the definition of a staple food. for me (Khairiah), staple food is either rice or noodles, well, at least something filling. of course, there will always be cynics and skeptics about this idea of accepting fruits and vegetables as staple foods, but oh well, we hope the upcoming pilot test and surveys will boost our confidence in promoting this concept to the public.
